0xBitcoin Mining 101
0xBitcoin (0xBTC) was and still is the first mineable token for Ethereum.
If you are new to token mining, it is most easy to begin if you have a Windows PC and an NVIDIA GPU. If so, all you need to do is:
- Make sure the NVIDIA Cuda Toolkit is installed: https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-toolkit
- Download the latest COSMIC miner software for NVIDIA: https://bitbucket.org/LieutenantTofu/cosmic-v3/downloads/
- (If using Radeon GPU : https://github.com/lwYeo/SoliditySHA3Miner )
(Note: You may need 7zip in order to unzip the files)
The software will open and detect your mining devices:
Use the Options > Configure menu in order to set the pool address and add your Ethereum address. This address is where pools will send tokens as a reward for your work in the mines!
Save settings and click ‘Start Mining’. Typically, you can visit the pool and your account should show up in the next 15 minutes with an estimated hashrate. This takes a while because you only send data to the pool every 1–10 minutes. Most of the mining work happens offline, just like mining for any other PoW currency.
